St Lucia

St. Lucia is one of the most romantic destinations in the Caribbean. The palm-fringed, white sand beaches are ideal to soak up the sun, while away the hours, gaze at the tranquil waters or head right in to explore the underwater treasures. If the north has its share of attractive beaches, the south is well known for its lush rainforest and banana plantations. The French and British connections are reflected in the island's culture, lifestyle, monuments and cuisines.

Things to do and see on St Lucia

  • Castries: The Island’s capital is an active cruise-ship port, where visitors can browse through the duty-free shopping pavilions along the waterfront.  At a short distance from the harbour is a market where vendors have gathered for more than a 100 years to sell their produce. There are several art galleries that showcase the works of local artists and sculptors.
  • Soufrière: The drive down the west coast to the town of Soufrière at the base of Petit Piton has been widely rated as one of the most scenic in all the Caribbean.
  • Underwater activities: St Lucia is a haven for diving and snorkelling. Most of St. Lucia’s coastline is protected by the Soufrière Marine Management Area, which prohibits fishing.  The divers can explore a colourful marine life and admire some of the most pristine coral reefs in the Caribbean.

Dining in St Lucia

The eateries in St Lucia offer a fine dining experience where the menu ranges from the local to the international. The island is dotted by banana plantations and so it is hardly surprising that they are a vital component in the local dishes. The local cuisine also includes plenty of fish--lobster, snapper, kingfish, dolphin, and swordfish as also pepperpot, spicy curries, and callaloo soup.

Entertainment and nightlife in St Lucia

St. Lucia’s nightlife and entertainment options are centred in the Rodney Bay area of Gros Islet, north of the island. On Fridays, you must head to the nightly street parties at Gros Islet and Anse La Raye. There is loud music and dancing in the streets and plenty of grilled street food and drinks.

Golfing in St Lucia

  • Sandals La Toc Golf Course: Located in Sandals Regency St. Lucia Golf Resort & Spa this magnificent course with rolling hills and majestic fairways promises an interesting and challenging round of golf.
  • Le Paradis Beach, Golf & Marina Resort: This is the first championship golf course on the Island of St Lucia.
  • St. Lucia Golf Club: The golf course is set amidst distinct tropical setting with lush fairways rolling above stunning Caribbean waters.
